Avlite Systems unveils certified FAA L-864 Medium Intensity Obstruction Light (MIOL)
Avlite is Enhancing Aviation Safety through Visual Identification of Obstacles and Aviation Hazards, typically above 150 feet, with the New FAA L-864 MIOL
Avlite Systems today unveiled the FAA L-864 LED medium intensity obstruction light (MIOL). The L-864 LED medium intensity obstruction light is designed for the marking of communication and utility towers, chimneys, wind turbines, and other obstructions or obstacles that impact air navigation. The flashing red LED obstruction light is ETL certified to meet FAA advisory guidelines, AC 150/5345-43G.
“Our new obstruction light unveiled today raises the bar, with a light weight, compact, self-contained design and progressive optics utilising high intensity LEDs to maximize light intensity and uniformity. The new Avlite L-864 delivers far greater efficiency by reducing energy consumption and eliminating maintenance expenses.” said Tara Stewart, Head of Global Sales. “Safety is a vital component of Avlite’s culture and influences our product development. Our R&D team is committed to developing safe technologies that will meet the challenges of aviation today and in the future, by providing the features and functionality the aviation industry demands.”
Today’s LED technology compared to a conventional Xenon flashtube reduces power consumption by 60-90% and eliminates the need for routine maintenance, such as flash head replacements. Virtually no maintenance is required during the lifetime of the Avlite L-864 LED obstruction light, because Avlite leverages LED technology to reduce power consumption and costly maintenance. Avlite also designs and manufactures the product with 7-stage powder coated aluminium, impact modified UV stabilized acrylic and IP-67 protection.
Avlite’s FAA Certified L-864 LED obstruction light is available in universal AC or DC and will accept voltages between 110–240VAC and 12–48VDC. Avlite’s L-864 if fully self-contained, unlike other obstruction lights, and requires no external control and monitoring enclosure. The 12-48VDC version is easily solarized with an Avlite solar power supply and a perfect solution for marking obstacles where no power is available. Optional GSM monitoring is available as well GPS synchronization for flashing multiple obstruction lights in unison.
