Philippine Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) migrates ATC toward VoIP with Rohde & Schwarz technology
Rohde & Schwarz has completed site acceptance testing for its state-of-the-art R&S VCS-4G voice communications system at the Laguindingan airport in the Philippine Misamis Oriental province. Commissioned by the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), Rohde & Schwarz is providing a fully integrated, IP-based, single-source system solution delivering voice services from the controller working position to the antenna. Together with its well-established R&S Series4200 VHF and R&S M3SR Series 4100 HF radios the company supplies robust voice over IP (VoIP) technology for air traffic control (ATC) in the Philippines.
The future-ready Rohde & Schwarz communications solution is based on state-of-the-art VoIP technology and conforms to EUROCAE ED-137 standards. The R&S VCS-4G uses a redundant design to meet highest reliability and performance standards. Due to its unique architecture, the system is highly scalable and can be easily expanded. The R&S VCS-4G has been designed to meet next generation ATC requirements such as asset sharing, facility consolidation, geographical distribution, virtual center and remote tower, thereby providing effective support for the efficiency and safety objectives relevant in global aviation.
