10 years of centralised AIM services

- Frankfurt am Main, Germany

After 10 years providing the EAD Service on behalf of EUROCONTROL, GroupEAD Europe has a vast and excellent Know-How of all the AIM chain processes, what turns them into a key player in the transition process from AIS to AIM.

On 26th May 2003, simultaneously in Madrid and in Frankfurt, a multinational, intrepid team of adventurers where unpacking the workstations that settled down the basis of what today we know as Aeronautical Information Management (AIM). This entrepreneur team, called GroupEAD Europe S.L., faced the challenge to start running the operations of the European AIS Database on behalf of EUROCONTROL.

Now, ten years later, the EAD is the first aeronautical operations organism that is providing a service based in the concept of centralisation and standardisation. All the aeronautical information necessary for a safe and efficient flight is stored in a common database, based in one universal system’s language for the exchange of information. This enables final users to retrieve information needed from one single source in one single format, instead of requesting it from every single country in the world, each one applying their own specifications.

GroupEAD Europe has been, and still is, responsible for running EAD operations, ensuring the quality of data and providing training to users of such an efficient, high quality compliant and future orientated system.

The key role that GroupEAD Europe has played in this successful story, acting as a global AIS service provider and supporter for all the ANSP’s in the frame of migration to the EAD, has made them become a reference company in the world of Aeronautical Information Management and a key player to define, face and achieve future challenges that AIM and SWIM will bring to the aviation industry.
