Quintiq & DFS ATC Workforce Planning Seminar

Quintiq and Deutsche Flugsicherung (DFS) organize an ATC Workforce Planning seminar on October 9th 2008 to discuss optimization of ATCO capacity and demonstrate the Quintiq Workforce Planning system implemented at DFS. The worldwide shortage of air traffic controllers and excessive use of overtime are two of the most pressing issues addressed at the IFATCA and CANSO annual conferences in 2008. Staff shortages are already causing delays in some parts of the world and represent a hazard to the efforts of ANSPs to maintain a safe and efficient air traffic system while handling increasing numbers of flights. Deutsche Flugsicherung (DFS) has selected Quintiqs Advanced Planning & Scheduling (APS) system for the annual, monthly, daily and operational planning of its air traffic controllers. The system helps DFS optimize the utilization of ATCOs while respecting labor laws and employee preferences. The system supports planners in balancing workload and making sure that each shift has the right combination of skill profiles for safe and efficient air traffic control. The seminar program will address the challenges ANSPs face regarding ATCO capacity optimization and includes a demonstration of the live system used by DFS in Bremen and a discussion of the use of workforce planning in other ANSPs.
