COMSOFT acquires market leading electronic AIP Company Synclude Sprl, Belgium

In a strategic move to strengthen its position as a premium AIM solution provider COMSOFT has acquired Synclude Sprl, a long term partner in this domain

- Karlsruhe, GE#RMANY

German ATC expert COMSOFT announces the attainment of all of Synclude’s activities and rights in order to further enhance its presence in the market of Aeronautical Information Management.

Synclude, a service and software provider in this field, has been a longstanding partner of COMSOFT – supplying its GroupVerve AIS software to AIS offices worldwide.

Synclude has been developing the electronic AIP concept on behalf of EUROCONTROL since 2001 and quickly gained technological leadership through the consequent use of open source COTS software and an innovative approach. Synclude pioneered data centric collaborative content management, rather than following the prevalent paper centric desktop publishing method, and the acquisition marks an important advancement for COMSOFT’s future.

Today, Synclude’s GroupVerve represents the next generation of AIS publication management systems. As a collaborative document management system specially designed for aeronautical information publications such as AIP, supplements and circulars, it is an essential tool for modern AIS offices around the world and a crucial milestone in the migration from AIS to AIM according to the ICAO AIS to AIM Roadmap. GroupVerve follows international standards and practices such as ICAO Annex 15 or EUROCONTROL electronic AIP, AIXM version 5.1 and SDP.

The acquisition of Synclude is a significant move for COMSOFT as GroupVerve has become a valuable part of the German expert’s AIM solution. A tight integration with COMSOFT’s central aeronautical database enables Air Navigation Service Providers to easily and cost-effectively modernise their aeronautical system infrastructure. Thus COMSOFT’s customers will be aptly prepared for the next decade’s demanding performance requirements. A continuously growing number of customers, currently comprising of around 20 Air Navigation Service Providers, immediately benefits from the combined and enhanced services this acquisition brings.

COMSOFT and Synclude have been in exclusive partnership for the provision of integrated AIS and eAIP solutions since August 2008. COMSOFT Managing Director Manfred Schmid emphasised: “This transfer is a very important step for COMSOFT’s global AIM activities and customer base. In particular, COMSOFT continually strives to provide technologically superior solutions to our customers.”
