Slovak technological company R-SYS provides state of the art version of IWB for The Polish Air Navigation Services Agency

IWB offers a complete set of functions for flight planning, filing and handling of flight plans (FPL) and viewing of flight data in the form of a report containing the essential information for the flight (NOTAMS, METEO, FREQ, planned route, flight profile). At the same time, pilots have full insight into the current AUP/UUP (Airspace Use Plan). Map functions allow displaying both planned and ongoing airspace activities in Poland, not to mention displaying all other types of permanent airspaces and objects described in the Aeronautical Information Publication (AIP Poland). IWB also offers a connection to the EUROCONTROL Network Manager functions enabling verification of the correctness of flight plans based on Instrument Flight Rules (IFR), automatic generation of IFR flight route proposals and viewing eAUP for the entire IFPS zone.
IWB is used not only by pilots, but also by entities interested in access to aviation data. The tool offers browsers for current NOTAM, AIP (from all over Europe) and meteorological messages and maps. These functionalities are used by pilots, ground handling coordinators at airports and broadly understood employees of the aviation industry, as well as officials for whom access to aviation data is necessary.
Modernisation of the IWB system
R-SYS and the Polish Air Navigation Agency introduced the first version of the IWB system, available via the website (iwb.pansa.pl), in 2019. Since then, the number of plans submitted through the system has grown year by year, similarly to the number of registered users. Over the past 5 years, the system has been constantly monitored and improved. Finally, R-SYS together with the Polish Air Navigation Agency, decided to thoroughly modernize it, the effects of which General Aviation pilots and other users can benefit from today.
Importantly, the modernized system has been equipped with a dedicated mobile application (IWB Mobile), containing all the core functions of the browser version, as well as functions dedicated to typical mobile applications. These will include, for example, a preview on the main screen of the current regional altimeter scale setting to pressure (QNH), tracking the flight progress and activity of segregated zones. The mobile version will encourage users to actively check current aviation data (NOTAM, METEO) and will enable immediate modifications to the filed flight plan, as well as closing it after landing, by selecting the ARR-ival function. This is to accelerate the distribution of messages and increase the safety of the operations performed.
For the same purpose, the AD Authority profile (iwb-ad.pansa.pl) is now also available in the browser version of the system, enabling the handling of flight plans by airport coordinators, which will facilitate the distribution of flight messages sent to Air Traffic Service (ATS). In addition, the IWB graphic interface has been thoroughly refreshed, and combined with the increased speed of operation, the system provides users with a new experience when using the tool. The updated version provides improved functionalities related to notices about segregated zone’s activities, a new flight profile preview, a modernized flight plan form, information about the activities of selected UAV zones (in development) and many other remodeled functions.
"A fully modern information channel such as the IWB system is intended to streamline communication with the ATS (Air Traffic Services) and AIS (Aeronautical Information Services) in the context of flight preparation and flight messages, improve safety thanks to flexible access to aviation data and enable operators to further develop, influencing the advancement of aviation business in Poland," said Paweł Wojciechowski, Head of the Flight Operations Planning and Flight Plan Processing Centre at the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency.
“The delivery of the next-generation IWB system for PANSA marks a significant milestone for our company in providing advanced briefing solutions for ANSPs across Europe. With the addition of new modules, such as the AD module tailored for airports and the mobile application featuring i-conspicuity capabilities, we are extending the IWB experience beyond traditional flight planning—bringing real-time, mission-critical information directly to aircraft cockpits. This project highlights our commitment to innovation, operational efficiency, and flight safety while reinforcing our role as a strategic partner for European ANSPs. It also opens new opportunities for expanding our services in the digital transformation of aeronautical information systems.” – added Pavol Serbín, Commercial Director at R-SYS, Ltd.
