ACR Academy powered by GATE Aviation Training has taken off!
ACR Aviation Capacity Resources (ACR) and GATE Aviation Training have reached a significant milestone of their cooperation. On November 1, 2021, the historical, first initial ATCO training at their joint academy in Ljungbyhed (South of Sweden) has started.
In 2020, both companies signed an agreement to implement a unique business cooperation and create the ‘ACR Academy powered by GATE Aviation Training’. While the ACR Academy allows ACR to satisfy all its training needs in a tailored and state-of-the -art set-up, the management and operation of the academy through GATE Aviation Training increases the training infrastructure for GATE and allows for commercial utilization of the center, when it is not used by ACR. This win-win cooperation yields significant cost benefits for ACR and GATE Aviation Training.
The location of the Academy in the largest Aviation Education Hub in Scandinavia at Ljungbyhed Airport, Sweden provides with a unique and inspiring training environment. A formal opening ceremony is planned in the first quarter of 2022 when the initial training enters its simulation phase.
Since the beginning of 2021, ACR has conducted continuation training for the ATCO of its 17 airports at the Academy, this is followed by the first initial ATC training for its future ATCOs. The students are receiving courses for Basic Training, Aerodrome Control Instrument, Approach Control for both Surveillance and Procedural Control plus Weather Observer.
The Academy is also offering initial and continuation training for the benefit of other Air Navigation Service Providers across the globe. The state-of-the-art Academy provides the opportunity to deliver customized, high-quality ATC and AFIS training on local airspace enabling to shorten the transition and unit training and consequently reduce cost.
The corporation between ACR and GATE Aviation Training sets a new level for professional aviation education at Ljungbyhed and is an example of a real partnership that results in high quality and significantly increased cost-efficiency as one of the key performance indicators of an ATM industry that needs to achieve cost savings in its recovery from Covid-19.
