Aeronautical Information Publications from AIP France are Now Available in an Electronic Format
From the 29th of May and for three months, the French Aeronautical Information
Service provider (SIA) will be testing, on its website, its new aeronautical
information publication, « Mainland France and Corsica », in the electronic eAIP
format. Its debut is scheduled for September. This electronic presentation has
been elaborated in compliance with Eurocontrol specifications and ICAO
recommendations. The eAIP France will be available from the SIA and the
Eurocontrol (The European AIS Database) websites and will also be offered to
subscribers via CD-ROM.
For users, the eAIP offers improved reading quality and a more efficient search for
information. On the technical front, updates to eAIP France will be largely
automated using the NOPIA system, which retrieves the necessary data from an
unique, AIXM-standard, database. Consequently, this publication provides an
additional guarantee relative to the integrity of information. Moreover data
exchanges with DSNA partners will be easier, for example to make cross-border
airspace design studies.
The present paper AIP, with its 4,300 pages and eight binders, will still be
available to subscribers. The VAC (visual aerodrome charts) manuals will continue
to be produced in a paper-based edition and published with no modification. With
the same intention of providing entire aeronautical documentation in an electronic
format, the SIA is studying the feasibility of creating an eVFR product which would
consolidate all documents required by VFR pilots (VAC, guidance and supplemental
documents, navigation charts).
Maurice Georges, DSNA CEO, said : “With this achievement, SIA, the French AISP,
offers airspace users a high quality of service, which is essential for safe and
efficient air navigation"
