Japanese group enjoys NZ Aviation English study

A group of Japanese trainee pilots are in New Zealand to benefit from intensive training in Aviation English before they commence their commercial pilot flight training.

The group, from Japan’s J. F. Oberlin University, are based in Hamilton with Aviation English Services (AES), an Airways New Zealand subsidiary.

Their rigorous eight-week programme will bring their English language skills to the standard required for Aviation English Level 4, which is mandatory to become a commercial pilot.

Airways’ Head of Training Sharon Cooke says the AES English products and services assist client organisations in fulfilling their ICAO requirements.

“We work with our clients to assess their training needs and develop tailored solutions, and arrange the appropriate AES study for them here in New Zealand,” she says.

“Our partnership approach is extremely effective in providing cost-effective and successful language training outcomes for clients from countries throughout the world,” says Ms Cooke.

This is the fifth Japanese group to participate in the Airways AES course. AES students say they enjoy the course particularly because of the expertise of the tutors, who have an in-depth understanding of the students’ requirements.
