Avitech will provide a Contingency MHS System to Panama
Avitech GmbH will provide a Contingency Message Handling System to Panama AAC to enhance the reliability of Panamanian Air Traffic Operations.
Avitech GmbH (a subsidiary of Indra Sistemas) will provide a Contingency Message Handling System (MHS) to AAC (Autoridad Aeronautica Civil de Panama) in the context of a multi-scope ATC contract signed with Indra Sistemas. This important project is already underway and the AMHS (Aeronautical Message Handling System) related scope will be completed in 2018.
State of the art technology will be deployed by Avitech to ensure the full availability of AMHS and AFTN switching and messaging capabilities. The Avitech Contingency MHS System (AMHS Switch and AFTN Gateway) for the new Howard APP Center system will be the backup solution for the current operational system.
Avitech’s MHS solution supports AFTN and Extended AMHS services to maintain uninterrupted ground-to-ground communications. The MHS is a critical system providing all required aeronautical information (e.g. FPL, NOTAM, METAR or any ICAO standard ATS message) to all stakeholders and requiring 24x7 fail safe operations.
The Avitech system will be the backup solution, the contingency system represents the disaster recovery mitigation technique in case the current operational system fails. This will ensure continuity in provision of MHS messaging services for AACP air traffic operations, providing connections for Local and Remote users at five different locations (Tocumen, Gelabert, David, Panama Pacific and Rio Hato).
This is an important milestone for both companies: For AACP it represents enhanced reliability in AMHS operations realized through a cutting-edge, cost-effective solution, while for Avitech it is the first major AMHS reference in the LATAM Region.
