AVTECH Receives additional options contract in the Dubai Wake Vortex Analysis Project

- Stockholm, Sweden.

AVTECH Sweden AB (publ) (“AVTECH”) today announces that it has received a contract through its associated company AVTECH Middle East LLC to execute an additional options expansion of the previously communicated primary contract with Dubai Air Navigation Services (“DANS”) on Wake Vortex. AVTECH’s value of the options expansion is approximately 1.25 MSEK during three months.

DANS is through this contract further expanding the already awarded and announced primary contract with its executed options, expected to end during Q4 2014. The expansion involves the inclusion of a third wake vortex LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) system into the overall project. DANS overall objective is to increase the capacity at Dubai International Airport with at least 10 landings per hour in peak hours.

“It is impressive to see how the actors at Dubai International Airport are pursuing capacity and safety at the airport, in which the installation of a third LIDAR is a part”, says Anders Palm, AVTECH’s Business Unit Director of Consultancy. “The LIDAR-analysis and correlations done during the project shows that the AVTECH Wake Vortex solutions and analysis methods are fit for the purpose, and I think that this is acknowledged by AVTECH now being contracted for the third LIDAR work”, finishes Anders Palm.

“The ongoing assignment in Dubai is a commercial activity that fits well with the development and potential implementation of a wake vortex system to help solve capacity and safety needs at a number of airports around the world”, says Lars GV Lindberg, the Chairman of Board of AVTECH. “Utilizing several of the building blocks that are operationally in use in AVTECH’s Aventus NowCast solution, in addition to a number of wake specific modules that have been developed by a great team of engineers and operational experts with the financial support of the Swedish Governmental Agency for Innovation Systems - VINNOVA, a potential long-term wake vortex system is currently being assessed at a Proof of Concept level. Though having a promising outlook based on the Dubai Wake Vortex Analysis project, it is still too early to draw any definitive conclusions of the assessment”, finishes Lars GV Lindberg.
