DFS acquires German aviation supplier Eisenschmidt
DFS International Business Services GmbH, a subsidiary of the German air navigation service provider DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung, has purchased R. Eisenschmidt GmbH, a company with a long tradition in the provision of aviation supplies and accessories. Now that the contract has been signed, the company is part of the DFS group.
DFS has made this move to consolidate the distribution of its aeronautical publications and aviation products after having outsourced this to an external company for the past several years.
The new managing director of the Eisenschmidt company will be Achim Eckermann, the long-time head of commercial services in the DFS business unit Aeronautical Solutions. Among its many tasks, this business unit also oversaw the sales of aviation products. Eckermann takes over the reins of the company along with Jan-Eric Putze who will join him as the authorised representative of Eisenschmidt. Putze has managed the sales of DFS products for general and business aviation since 2008.
Business at the aviation supplier will continue unchanged until the beginning of 2014. That is the target date for combining the DFS range of products with that of Eisenschmidt. The selection of products from both companies will be adapted to each other, logistics will be integrated and the online shops merged. Eisenschmidt will keep its customers informed of any important changes in a timely manner.
The Eisenschmidt company was founded at the end of the 19th century and has its headquarters at Frankfurt Egelsbach Airport south of Frankfurt. It has a long history of producing and selling aeronautical publications and products including technical accessories for the preparation, planning and conduct of flights.
