Kazakh ANSP Kazaeronavigatsia has its air traffic controllers trained at DAS Aviation Academy

- Langen, Germany.

DFS Aviation Services (DAS) is expanding its successful cooperation with Kazaeronavigatsia, the Kazakh air navigation service provider (ANSP). In December 2024 the first basic training for eight prospective air traffic controllers from Kazakhstan started at the DAS Aviation Academy (DAS A²) in Germany. This program marks another milestone in the long-standing partnership between the two organisations.

The participants first undergo comprehensive theoretical basic training covering topics such as air law, meteorology as well as soft skills such as psychology and human factors. This is followed by specialised training as an Area Controller, which is completed with an examination. Upon successful completion, trainees receive the internationally recognised Area Control Surveillance (ACS) rating. The training ends in June 2025.

The cooperation between DAS and Kazaeronavigatsia goes beyond training offers: For several years, the DFS PHOENIX radar system has been successfully used and continuously developed at seventeen locations in Kazakhstan. In addition, several air traffic controllers and management members of Kazaeronavigatsia have already completed training courses at DAS A².

“We are delighted to once again demonstrate our expertise in air traffic controller training and our many years of experience with modern air traffic control systems,” says Andreas Pötzsch, Managing Director of DAS. “This training programme underlines the mutual trust and shared vision of ensuring the highest level of safety and efficiency in air traffic control.”

Both Air Traffic Controllers (ATCOs) and Apron Controllers can be trained at the certified training academy DAS A². With the launch of the new training programmes, DAS is setting another standard for international partnerships in the field of air traffic control.
