DFS and Atech deliver air traffic flow management system for India

- Langen, Germany.

At the end of July, the Brazilian system manufacturer Atech won the bid issued by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to provide an air traffic flow management (ATFM) system. Atech and the German air navigation service provider DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung are supplying the system SkyFlow together on a partnership basis worldwide. The solution will be implemented within the next 2 1/2 years. In the project, DFS will contribute their in-depth experience in ATFM and support Atech in developing the safety case, operational training plans and during the certification process for the system. For the implementation phase, Atech will also work together with Three D Integrated Solutions, an Indian systems engineering firm.

Skyflow integrates flight plan data from airlines, airports and air navigation service providers among others, with weather information in a unified database. The system is specially designed to manage the strategic planning of scheduled flights and the tactical control of daily operations. The resulting common situational awareness of the relevant stakeholders assists in ensuring fuel savings as well as increasing the punctuality of flights. At the same time, the system also provides a platform for Collaborative Decision Making.
