Dubai chosen as location for ATC Global 2015
GCAA, DANS, Dubai Airport and Emirates confirm their support
On 5-7 October 2015, the global air traffic management (ATM) industry will gather in Dubai, UAE for this year’s eagerly awaited ATC Global Exhibition & Conference.
Hosting ATC Global in Dubai reflects the growing importance of the Gulf region as the global hub of air transport. Dubai, now the busiest international airport, serves every continent and directly links more than 260 cities. Dubai is the world’s most accessible international destination.
Commenting on this year’s choice of location, Paula Milburn, Development Director - Aviation, ATC Global said “Dubai was selected in response to an industry poll that identified UAE as the preferred location for a globally unifying industry event in 2015. Dubai has direct flights to every continent along with proven and sustained long term growth which is often the envy of hubs elsewhere. Geographically the Gulf is a fitting epicentre for discussions on Global ATM harmonisation.”
Celebrating 25 years as the leading international event for the air traffic management and control industry, ATC Global will unite leaders and executives from air navigation service providers, aviation regulators, air traffic management suppliers, defence organisations, airports and airlines looking to build partnerships, share knowledge, meet new customers and debate the most critical issues facing ATM today.
ATC Global will build on its outstanding heritage, providing a series of unique networking and educational opportunities. The event will encompass a comprehensive exhibition featuring organisations leading the transformation of ATM and showcasing concepts, technologies and live demonstrations. It will also feature an exceptional three-day programme of high-level education including free-to-attend workshops and a prestigious conference on Connecting the Continents.
Leading industry stakeholders have also confirmed their support including UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), Dubai Air Navigation Services (DANS), Dubai Airports and Emirates Airline.
Speaking on behalf of GCAA, Mr. Ismaeil Mohammed Al Blooshi, Assistant Director General, Aviation Safety Affairs said “Our industry faces huge transformation as we progress the implementation of ICAO plans. As such, we thoroughly value the platform that ATC Global provides, this year on our doorstep, to work together with other regulators and providers from different regions of the world to share best practice.”
Mr. Nils Svan, Vice President of Strategy in Dubai Air Navigation Services (DANS), stated “Dubai is becoming the epicentre of the aviation sector and as the global leaders of air traffic management are going to be convening in Dubai, we are looking forward to the vast opportunities that ATC Global will present and the platform of knowledge exchange it will provide to the aviation sector in the UAE.”
Finally, Adel Al Redha, Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer for Emirates Airline explained “For Emirates, Dubai’s geographical location between East and West has been vital to our success and we continue to drive our growth based on the principle that passengers can connect anywhere on the globe through Dubai. As we grow, we will rely on more efficient airspace management and make best use of technology on ground and in the air to support our increase in passenger demand. Air traffic management stakeholders will be required to re-examine the airspace structure, as well as practices that rely on automation to cope with high traffic demand in the coming years.” Emirates will also be providing discounted flights for ATC Global attendees.
ATC Global successfully took place in Beijing, China last year with full backing from China’s Air Navigation Service provider (ATMB) and China’s Aviation Regulator (CAAC), securing the attendance of a high-level audience alongside key international stakeholders. SESAR and Eurocontrol Director Generals and senior members of the Chinese military were amongst them along with ATM buyers from across the globe.
