ENAIRE leads a workshop to promote aviation safety with EUROCONTROL and IATA
ENAIRE led the ninth edition of the international conference to enhance flight safety, in coordination with the European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation (EUROCONTROL) and the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
The event was held virtually on the 12th of November under the title "ENAIRE-EUROCONTROL-IATA Safety Workshop".
The main goal of the conference was to share various perspectives in the field of safety that are being employed to confront the pandemic and the effects of COVID-19, from the point of view of Spain's national air navigation manager (ENAIRE), the European network manager (EUROCONTROL) and the airlines (IATA).
"ENAIRE is a leader in Europe in terms of operational safety, and remains so in this low-traffic situation", stressed the company's head of the Security Division, Jesús Romero. This is clear from EUROCONTROL data on 30 providers evaluated using an indicator that measures the maturity and effectiveness of the safety management systems of air navigation service providers, called EoSM (Effectiveness of Safety Management).
ENAIRE's safety managers in the Balearic Islands, South and Centre-North Regional Departments, Alfonso Barba, Ricardo Espantaleón and Miguel Angel García-Hortal, respectively, detailed how a European Safety Action Plan is being implemented that includes proper coordination between air traffic controllers, technicians, pilots, aviation managers, safety supervisory agencies and more, with the continuous objective of maintaining and improving flight safety.
