The Spanish Government authorises the creation of Enaire Global Services to promote the internationalisation of the operator

- Madrid Spain.

The Council of Ministers today authorised the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, with backing from the Ministry of Finance, to establish the state-owned company Enaire Global Services (EGS) to promote the internationalisation of the national air navigation service provider, Enaire. The company will start with an initial workforce of eight employees, which will be expanded as the business grows.

The Council of Ministers green-lights this new state-owned company, which will provide air navigation operational, technological, and consultancy services, as well as drone traffic and new user management servicesThe creation of this subsidiary aims to address the profound transformation currently underway in the air navigation sector, driven by the construction of the Single European Sky, the growing demand for global services and solutions, the emergence of new players (drones), and the challenges posed by Urban Air Mobility and space operations.

The establishment of Enaire Global Services (EGS) forms part of ENAIRE's Strategic Plan (Flight Plan 2025), as a key initiative to ensure the future viability of the operator in a sector increasingly characterised by a more disaggregated business model (aerodrome, approach, and en-route services), with competition in the deregulated, decentralised, and globalised market.

The EGS subsidiary will enable ENAIRE to operate in the deregulated segment of the air navigation sector, focusing its activities on three main business areas: air traffic management operational services; technological and consultancy services; and drone and new user services.

It is worth noting that some of the leading national air navigation operators in Europe have already established similar subsidiaries to position themselves as global operators.

Consultancy and new markets

EGS is designed as a company with a limited size and cost structure, whose growth is tied to securing contracts, thereby minimising economic risks. Its business plan includes international consultancy and training activities, as well as bidding for potential contracts to provide aerodrome air traffic services in deregulated international markets.

With a lean cost structure, EGS would operate with fewer restrictions than ENAIRE and in a more agile manner, as required by the deregulated market, diversifying its activities into various new business areas within the air navigation services sector, either directly or through international subsidiaries, while also complementing other state-owned companies present in the sector.
