New EUROCONTROL Raising the Aviation Bar podcast on the cyber-threats facing aviation actors
From cyber-criminals impersonating an airline or other commercial actors, to state-led cyber-attacks, or hacktivists aiming to send a political message, it’s clear: the cybersecurity threat to aviation is real.
Our new #RTAB Raising the Aviation Bar podcast – the series that brings the aviation community topical insights into aviation’s hottest challenges, from the experts and business leaders working to tackle them – talks to Patrick Mana, our Cyber Security Programme Manager, to understand better the scale of the cyber-threat, and how aviation actors are dealing with attacks.
Patrick leads EUROCONTROL’s EATM-CERT – European Air Traffic Management Computer Emergency Response Team – which supports EUROCONTROL Member States and the European aviation sector with vital cyber-security services, such as sharing aviation cyber-intelligence, coordinating pan-European responses to cyber-security alerts, and working to pool resources and procurement for cybersecurity services that can benefit the entire aviation community.
Listen for insights into the range of cyber-threats the aviation sector faces, what can be done to best prepare and mitigate against the various types of cyberattack, what are the most critical security controls every organisation should implement – and how EATM-CERT is using artificial intelligence and machine learning in the fight against cyber-threat actors.
Patrick’s core message: resilience matters, but so does investment: “Cybersecurity will not generate revenue, so it is not easy to convince the sector to spend money on it, but frankly it is absolutely vital”.
