FAA Awards Frequentis a 10-year Contract for the Voice Switch Replacement System

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has awarded Frequentis U.S.A. the Voice Switch Replacement System (VSRS) contract to replace the aging Air Traffic Control Voice Communications nodal systems in the United States.
Frequentis U.S.A will supply its successful VCS3020 voice communication system for the FAAs Voice Switch Replacement System program. This award follows the successful delivery of more than 80 voice communication systems on the Interim Voice Switch Replacement (IVSR) program since 2004. With the VSRS contract, Frequentis will continue delivering its voice communications systems to the FAA for at least the next 10 years. The VCS3020 is the only voice communications system currently on the market that is certified for operation in the National Airspace System (NAS) while currently in full production.

The VCS3020 is fully scalable up to hundreds of operator positions, the largest having been deployed for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) with over 1,000 operator positions, at Goddard Space Flight Center and Johnson Space Center. The latest VCS3020 system release has been successfully tested for compliance with the international VoIP standard ED-137 during the recent FAA VoIP interoperability tests.

We are proud to play a vital role in equipping the National Airspace with our products, and contribute to the safety and security of the flying public, says Lenny Swiontek, President of Frequentis U.S.A. The VSRS will be manufactured at the companys Columbia, Maryland, facility. This is the same facility where the company has produced all of its 3020 communications systems including the FAAs Command Center voice conferencing system in Warrenton, Virginia, and NASAs large space operations centers, such as Goddard, Johnson, and Kennedy. The companys FAA and NASA contracts for 3020 systems make Frequentis the leading provider of mission-critical voice communications and conferencing systems to the United States government.
