FABEC Training Seminar: Digital steps to secure the future
Digital generation trainees shared the platform with senior instructors and managers of training institutions to discuss changes in the ATC training environment at the fifth FABEC Training Seminar held at the DFS Academy in Langen, Germany, on 29-30 October 2019. The agenda focused on the growth in digital techniques and opportunities for tailored and focused skills training, for example using web-based simulation. Attendees also learned how gamification enhances the learning experience and recruitment strategies need to keep pace with digital media and cyber. Among messages delivered at the event, training managers can expect an increase in flexibility and quality assurance, accompanied by more focused investment in relevant technology and skill sets.
Director of DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung Training Academy Otto Fischer said: “Many organisations take advantage of digital techniques to reflect the needs of a new generation. Digital training tools can enhance individual learning and add to the quality of training overall.”
FABEC training organisations regularly share learning material about course content and learning methods, and the biennial Training Seminar builds on this common activity. With more than 80 participants from air navigation service providers (ANSPs), training institutions and government aviation officials from all over Europe, the forum highlighted the cultural change taking place as a result of a digital transformation in learning methods.
