Increased Harmonisation in AIM Data Management
FABEC partners DFS and skyguide agree on harmonisation of data publication process
The FABEC partners DFS and skyguide concluded a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the exchange of aeronautical information. The objective is to create a general plan for the bilateral and unilateral working arrangements with respect to aeronautical information requiring coordination or exchange. A similar MoU exists already between DSNA and skyguide.
Consistency and reliability of aeronautical data is a backbone of all efficient flight planning and safe operations. With this new MoU between the FABEC partners an additional safety net for Aeronautical Information Management has been created for the benefit of all airspace users in the FABEC area. Efficiency is also supported, as it eases the identification of data inconsistencies in the European AIS Database (EAD), ensures near-term solutions when inconsistencies occur and facilitates the information exchange across national borders. This MoU – and further similar arrangements which are planned across FAB boundaries – directly contributes to achieve aeronautical information of sufficient quality, accuracy, timeliness and granularity to build the European ATM Network as required by the European Commission.
