Fiji Bridges Gap in the ATN Backbone
COMSOFT has been selected by Airports Fiji Limited (AFL) to implement a new AMHS/ATN system along with a modern AIS for NOTAM and OPMET operations.
AFLS purchase of COMSOFTs AIDA-NG is part of a larger procurement that further entrusts the German ATC supplier with the implementation of its cutting-edge AIM and terminal solution CADAS. Once this product is commissioned, elaborate flight planning workflows, paired with integrated pilot briefing operations for NOTAM and OPMET, will also be available to the benefit of its users. In addition, the new system supports all procedures for the dissemination of METEO messages according to the latest ROBEX standard.
NADI/FIJI, May 2009 COMSOFT will deploy its prestigious AIDA-NG message handling system as a direct replacement for AFLs existing AFTN solution. The recognized AMHS specialist COMSOFT is using ATN ground-to-ground routers from its partner BCI for this vital project in the South Pacific Ocean. Given its unique location, Fiji not only serves as the central AMHS hub of the archipelago, but also plays a significant role in the future ATN backbone connecting the USA with the Asia-Pacific ICAO region.
As a reaction to AFLs emphasis on the importance of system interoperability with neighbouring ANSPs, AMHS trials were conducted by COMSOFT with partner systems in the USA already at an early stage of the evaluation phase. As a consequence of their success, forthcoming interoperability and pre-operational tests are eagerly awaited not only by Australia that had opted for AIDA-NG and CADAS years ago, and is already awaiting its new counterpart.
