Helios awarded HIAL safety and cybersecurity contract
Aviation consultancy Helios (an Egis company) has been selected as a preferred framework supplier on three different lots as part of a consultancy framework for air traffic management (ATM), air traffic engineering (ATE) and airport operations with Highlands and Islands Airports Limited (HIAL).
Helios will advise HIAL on a range of safety and cybersecurity issues, including safety cases and assessments, safety systems, culture and performance and cybersecurity for ATM, ATE and airport operations.
“We are pleased to support HIAL on these critical issues, particularly as they now embark on a modernisation strategy to ensure sustainable ATM services”, says James Hanson, Director at Helios. “Our previous work with HIAL gives us a strong understanding of the unique environment they operate in. This, combined with our wider appreciation of the latest ATM and airport thinking, will enable us to independently assure the safety and security of HIAL operations as they evolve to meet the demands and regulatory changes ahead.”
HIAL is the owner and operator of 11 airports across Scotland and a certified Air Navigation Service Provider (ANSP), providing air traffic services at these airports. This framework covers HIAL’s ongoing operations as well their Air Traffic Management Strategy (ATMS) – a strategy that was partly based on a technical scoping study that Helios previously developed. Safety and cybersecurity consultancy will be important elements in HIAL operations both today and as those operations evolve to sustain HIAL’s vital role in Scotland’s transport network.
Helios is a leading supplier of advisory services and has completed cybersecurity resilience reviews across Europe as well as safety assessments for many of the key stakeholders in Europe, the Middle East and beyond. The firm has also provided training and thought leadership on these topics to industry bodies like EUROCAE and CANSO.
