INDRA has been selected to implement new air navigation aid systems in France

- Madrid, Spain

The company has signed a frame agreement with the French DSNA for the supply of Distance Measuring Equipment (DME) for 15 years

Indra has signed a frame agreement with the French Direction des Services de la Navigation Aérienne (DSNA) for the supplyof En Route and Terminal Distance Measuring Equipment (DME). The contract was signed for a period of 15 years and will contribute to the renewal of the navigational systems of the French Air Space.

With this agreement, Indra has become the provider of choice of this type of solution for the DSNA. The Direction de la Technique et de l’Innovation (DTI) of the DSNA will be able to order Indra's En Route and Terminal DME under pre-established agreement conditions, in accordance with its operational needs.

Indra has become the provider of choice in France and overseas for this type of technology

The multinational was selected as the winning bidder of a public tender among all major sector suppliers. Indra's DME is probably the most advanced and reliable DME system on the market. Its design is based on over 60 years of experience in this segment and over 600 references throughout the world.

Indra pioneered the development of navaids. Indra’s centre in Australia developed the first DME in the world as far back as 1948.

The multinational consolidates its position in the French and European ATM markets

Indra strengthens its position in France and in the navaids market. Indra’s Norwegian subsidiary has been supplying its NORMARC 7000 Instrumented Landing System (ILS) to the DSNA under a similar frame agreement for over 13 years.

Indra's low power DME will be jointly installed with its NORMARC 7000 ILS systems at several locations in the future, offering the DSNA with a seamless ILS/DME capability.

Paris Charles de Gaulle and Paris Orly

Indra is also supplying Advanced Surface Movement and Ground Control Systems (A-SMGCS) to the Paris Charles de Gaulle and Paris Orly airports, as well as the Voice Communication Control System (VCCS) to the Paris Orly airport.

Likewise, Indra's Runway Status Light System (RWSL) is also being currently deployed at the Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris. This RWSL will be Europe’s first and further enhance the safety at one of Europe’s busiest airports.

Indra's French offices are in Paris and Nice. With this agreement, Indra reinforces its leading position in Europe and consolidates its presence in France as a technological supplier of the French Air Navigation Service Provider, DSNA. The global company has an extensive background of collaboration with the Air Navigation Service Providers of Spain (AENA), UK (NATS) and Germany (DFS) in the development of the new generation of Air Traffic Control Systems known as iTEC (Interoperability Through European Collaboration), which also include the Dutch LVNL as Partner and Commissioner.

In addition, the company plays a key role in the Single Sky initiative where it has been present since the very first steps of SESAR's definition phase, and it is one of the most important partners. Moreover, Indra has also been working hand in hand with Eurocontrol in the development and deployment of the most advanced ATM Automation systems, as well as other European countries such as Poland (PANSA), Lithuania and Ukraine.
