Indra consolidates its global leadership of Air Traffic Management (ATM) with the launch of its subsidiary in the USA, Indra Air Traffic Inc.
Indra is seeking to become the undisputed number one company in the air traffic management business and has taken a significant step to achieve its goal by launching Indra Air Traffic Inc., its new US subsidiary, at an introductory event held on May 1st in Overland Park, Kansas. This marks the launch of the activity of the new company integrated into its ATM business.
The event was attended by US Senator for Kansas, Jerry Moran; Kansas Congresswoman Sharice L. Davids; Kansas Deputy Secretary of Commerce, Paul Hughes; and Overland Park City Council President, Jim Kite. Ramón Tarrech, Indra’s Director of ATM Business Strategy, and Bill Colligan, the CEO of Indra Air Traffic Inc, who acted as master of ceremonies, attended on the company’s behalf. The 100-plus professionals who will work for the new company were also included in the week’s festivities.
After acquiring the air traffic business line of Selex ES, which focuses on air navigation aid systems, and converting it into a new company in its air traffic business, Indra has gained a strong foothold in the United States. The aim is to put its comprehensive portfolio of products and services and its experience in the ATM business going back over four decades at the service of the country’s upcoming renewal of its air infrastructure. Indra Air Traffic Inc. will also offer some of the most cutting-edge technologies that Indra is known for worldwide.
We must now add the assets incorporated into the United States, including the only Distance Measuring Equipment (DME) certified by the FAA, and new customers such as the US Air Force and the US Navy, which complement Indra’s offering and customer portfolio.
Ramón Tarrech, Indra’s Director of ATM Business Strategy, highlighted during his speech at the launch event that “the United States is one of the largest national airspaces in the world and its ATM business has excellent potential for growth. Reinforcing our presence and activity in the country will open up huge opportunities for us, help us complete our global leadership of the sector and allow us to introduce internationally proven state-of-the-art technology into a country with a clearly innovative DNA”.
Bill Colligan, CEO of Indra Air Traffic Inc, said that “joining Indra, a world leader in the sector, will help us strengthen our portfolio and offer a comprehensive service to our customers. Indra is the only company in the world with proprietary technology that can cover all of the segments of the industry and fully manage a flight throughout all of its stages”.
Indra’s subsidiary in the United States was created with a hundred professionals and a production plant in Overland Park, Kansas. At these facilities, Indra will create a center of excellence for air navigation aid systems (NAVAIDS) from which it will provide service to customers in the USA and the rest of the world, constituting the starting point for the development of an industrial plan that seeks to incorporate other products into Indra’s portfolio, market them and add new capabilities.
