JEPPESEN and SKYWEST AIRLINES launch airside service
Jeppesen and skywest airlines lanuch airside service for jet fleet with commemorative initial delivery of pre-assembled flight materials
Surrounded by key staff members, Jeppesen Chief Operating Officer Brad Thomann presents SkyWest Airlines President and COO Chip Childs with an initial delivery of Jeppesen AirSide Service flight materials during a ceremonial event held at Denver International Airport in November.
Jeppesen and SkyWest Airlines, a wholly-owned subsidiary of SkyWest, Inc., recently held a ceremonial first delivery of Jeppesen AirSide Service materials for the airline. The event was held to commemorate a new five-year agreement for AirSide Service delivery of pre-assembled Jeppesen operational manuals, standard operating procedures and navigational charts for the commercial carrier.
Jeppesen AirSide Service eliminates the need for pilots to assemble revisions and transport approximately 35 pounds of paper-based navigational charts and materials for each flight. Through the service, Jeppesen coordinates manual assembly of critical flight information and delivers the paper materials onboard the aircraft, where the manuals remain at the conclusion of each flight. Jeppesen AirSide Service serves as a bridge to the eventual elimination of paper-based flight materials in the cockpit, with a transition to digital flight information delivery.
During the ceremonial initial AirSide Service delivery, Brad Thomann, Jeppesen chief operating officer, delivered assembled flight materials to Chip Childs, SkyWest Airlines president and chief operating officer on the ramp at Denver International Airport. Numerous Jeppesen and SkyWest Airlines employees attended the event with their executive leaders to celebrate the inaugural AirSide Service delivery.
We are pleased to provide this service for our flight crew, which delivers flight materials directly to the flight deck and eliminates a time consuming pre-flight process for our pilots, said Chip Childs, SkyWest Airlines president and COO. We look forward to expanding Jeppesen AirSide Service for our fleet as we research future Jeppesen digital flight information solutions.
Jeppesen AirSide Service will initially be used with SkyWest Airlines fleet of 246 Bombardier-manufactured Canadair Regional Jet (CRJ) aircraft and will expand to include its nearly 50 Embraer aircraft in the coming months.
Jeppesen AirSide Service increases operational standardization and consistency, improves crew response time and allows pilots to focus primarily on safely transporting passengers, said Tim Huegel, director, Jeppesen Portfolio Management, Aviation. We are pleased to partner with SkyWest Airlines to provide AirSide Service as a benefit for their flight crew.
