Michiel van Dorst: “The Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications (MOTT) of Bahrain has asked me to play a role in the strategic development of aviation in Bahrain as a Civil Aviation Advisor. For me personally, it is a unique opportunity to use my experience on an international stage – and also in a very dynamic region. It is a new chapter in my career. That also means that an exciting chapter – at LVNL – is now coming to an end. I do that with some nostalgia. I will certainly miss the great LVNL employees. And at the same time, I am proud of what we as a LVNL team have achieved in recent years. We have a clear focus on who we do this important work for: the people in Dutch society, the airlines and our partners. We have further improved safety through the Sector Safety Management System, which is unique in the world, we modernized the control tower at Schiphol, developed a noise nuisance reduction program (minderhinderschiphol.nl), reduced delays through RECAT-TBS and we are well on our way to catching up on the accumulated debt burden and air traffic controller shortages after COVID. In addition, last December we had a successful trial handling air traffic with our new air traffic control system for the first time. I have been given the opportunity to contribute to all of this and I thank everyone for the support I have experienced."
LVNL CEO Michiel van Dorst set to leave for post with Bahrain Ministry of Transport
Wim Kuijken, Chairman of the Supervisory Board: "As the Supervisory Board, we have worked with Michiel in a professional and pleasant manner in recent years. Under his leadership, LVNL has taken steps to further improve safety. In addition, LVNL has worked with many parties to embed the organization stronger in the social environment. The accessibility of Schiphol for airlines, reducing noise nuisance for people living in the area around airports, as well as providing space for the training needs of the Royal Netherlands Air Force have been taken to a higher level. In addition, Michiel, together with Marlou Banning (CFO), has led LVNL stably through the COVID crisis. We thank Michiel for the many years of cooperation.”
Soon, the Supervisory Board will make further announcements about the replacement of the CEO in the short and longer term.
