Metron Aviation, IATA and APEC Partner to Reduce Air Traffic Management Emissions

Collaboration Will Outline Emissions Reduction in the Philippines and Vietnam

- Washington D.C. USA.

Metron Aviation has been chosen by The United States Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) to assess air traffic management operations – and their impact on emissions - in the Philippines and Vietnam.

In a region where air traffic is expected to grow 5.7 percent annually over the next 10 years, assessments of current air traffic management operations are crucial for sustainable, efficient growth. Once the study, entitled Technical Assistance for Regional South and Southeast Asia: Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Air Traffic Management Emissions Reduction, is complete, Metron Aviation will deliver a set of recommendations for emissions reduction based on Air Traffic Flow Management (ATFM) and Collaborative Decision Making (CDM) principles.

“USTDA is committed to helping our APEC partners deliver sustainable solutions as they handle increased air traffic demand,” said Regional Director Henry Steingass. “We believe the assistance that Metron Aviation will carry out on behalf of USTDA will provide valuable, actionable recommendations to reduce aviation emissions and achieve air traffic efficiencies.”

“We are committed to helping the entire region transform air traffic management and all parties involved in the USTDA project are vital to our success,” said Mike Antonucci, General Manager, Metron Aviation. “This study will be a crucial foundation toward future operational improvements.”
