SELEX Sistemi Integrati: inauguration of the new Budapest radar system
At the Budapest Ferihegy airport (Hungary), a new terminal approach radar (TAR) supplied by SELEX Sistemi Integrati was recently inaugurated.
The ceremony was attended by company representatives, the Hungarian Ministry of Transport, the air traffic management services provider HugaroControl CEO, and the Ferihegy airport Director.
The inauguration of the new radar, the site acceptance test of which was completed on 30th October, is the fulfilment of the airport radar sensors upgrading programme planned by HugaroControl.
The system provided by SELEX Sistemi Integrati includes an S-band solid state primary radar, a mode S/Enhanced secondary radar as well as infrastructures such as civil works, shelter, radome and antenna tower.
At the end of the 80s, SELEX Sistemi Integrati supplied two en-route radar systems for the Puspokladany and Koroshegy airports as well as a TAR system, still in service at the Budapest airport.
