Systems Interface awarded delivery phase of Jersey Airport’s Automated Weather Observation System (AWOS)
Systems Interface has been awarded, by Ports of Jersey Limited, the final delivery phase of Jersey Airport’s new AWOS under its ‘Technology Partner Framework Agreement’.
Having completed the design and procurement phase, Systems Interface will continue to work in partnership with Ports of Jersey to deliver the project, including transition into operational service, during 2016.
Jersey Airport is replacing its legacy MET systems with a new Schneider ‘MetConsole 3’ fully integrated IP based AWOS and ATIS including the latest sensors from Biral Ltd and Adolf Thies GmbH. This new IP system will provide Air Traffic Control with a resilient solution able to supply MET data between the current Control Tower and the new Contingency ATC facility as well as other Ports of Jersey departments.
Systems Interface has been involved since the project’s inception, from providing system design through to managing the equipment procurement process; jointly evaluating multiple tenders for all the necessary equipment with Jersey Airport’s management team; and awarding the contract to Schneider Electric Weather Systems.
