UFA's Air Traffic Control Tower Simulator featured on Discovery Channel
In the Special Bulletin Magazine from last September we featured the UFA simulator solution which has been installed with customers such as DFS and NavCanada. The system uses VRR (Voice recognition and response) which allows simulation sessions without the use of pseudo pilots. The Discovery Channel visited NavCanada's Tower in Toronto (Pearson Tower) to follow Alan Nursall try his hand at controlling after literally no training. Of course Alan was quickly overwhelmed by the three aircraft in the vicinity. As Brian Simcoe (VFR Training Specialist at NavCanada) explains there is a reason two and a half years training are required.
ATVoice allows Controller Trainees to interact with the situation through voice recognition using proper ATC phraseology. ATTower realistically reacts and responds to even the most complex situations.
