UK NATS upgrades London Terminal Control area with well-proven and reliable information system
Terma's ATC*ISS Support Information System Terma has been successfully transitioned into the London Terminal Control facility.
NATS, the United Kingdoms leading air traffic solutions provider has successfully transitioned ATC*ISS Support Information System developed by Terma into the London Terminal Control facility. This facility controls some of the most complex and busy airspace in the world over south east England.
The system is designed to meet the needs of todays air traffic controllers providing structured and real-time information. ATC*ISS collects, organizes, and serves relevant air traffic information, such as meteorological overviews and forecasts, air traffic load data, runwaycondition, maps, flight data, airport sensor data etc. A key milestone was to successfully deploy the ACT*ISS system into the operation in time for the 2012 London Olympics. This has been achieved in what has been a seamless transition.
The support information system improves air traffic controllers situational awareness as it integrates information from several systems and airports to one common operational picture for the Terminal Control airspace managed by each controller. As a result improving air traffic safety and working conditions.
- By selecting Termas system, we have secured a professional and reliable solution developed by a competent key supplier. The operational transition was successful and the system has been well received by the operational staff, says Frank Wood, GM Programmes, NATS.
