Video Flying Guides go into Cyberspace

A new interactive website that plays video flying guides of key GA routes has been launched by the Airspace & Safety Initiative (ASI).
vfrThe VFR Airspace Guide (www.airspacesafety.com/guides) also provides essential information on Englands biggest aerodromes with links to charts, NATS Aeronautical Information Publications and Met Office data, all on one convenient site. The videos, which feature GA flying instructor, Irv Lee, flying in stages around the M25, were originally produced by NATS for pilots to negotiate the London TMA. Pilots planning to fly featured routes can now virtually fly them from the comfort of home before they set off. The new microsite also contains helicopter routes around London. More videos will be added in the future to produce a comprehensive database of popular GA routes across the UK. Current videos available to view include: Cheshunt to Royston Dartford to Potters Bar via Stapleford Guildford to Reigate Henley to Guildford Potters Bar to Henley Reigate to Dartford via Biggin Hill Thame to Henley The new microsite is the latest project from ASI, part of a long-term programme to provide key safety information and advice to GA pilots. Other recent projects have included an interactive guide to the new Air Traffic Services Outside Controlled Airspace (ATSOCAS).
