Civil Aviation Timor Leste is a part of the Governmental Organization which was established under Department of Transport & Communications in the Ministry of Transport, Communications And Public Works (MTCOP) to promote the safety, efficiency and regularity of the aviation services in Timor Leste. Civil aviation division also has the responsibility for overall planning, implementation and operation of the aviation services in Timor Leste.
The regulation that applied by civil aviation division in the provision aviation services in Timor Leste for the time being is in accordance with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Standard and Recommendation Practices until such time the national regulation in place.
In the meantime civil aviation division provide the airport services and air navigation services for Aeroporto Presidente Nicolau Lobato as an international standard service .Some other airports such as Baucau and Suai are still remain as an unattended airport.
Presently there are two foreigners airlines operating into Dili Timor Leste on commercial flight proposes . They are Merpati Air Line from Indonesia provide the passenger services once in a day between Denpasar Dili Denpasar , while the Air North provide two times passenger services in a day between Darwin Dili Darwin.
Most of the flight operating into Dili International airport in the meantime are on charter flight basis only.
The head of Civil Aviation Division is a Director who will advices the Minister of Transport, Communication and Public works on all aviation policy matters concerning the international civil aviation including those pertaining of air navigation services in Timor Leste.
