Airline traffic during NATO Summit coordinated by TOPEX VCS
TOPEX VCS, voice communication system intended for air traffic control applications and dispatcher - type communication centers, assisted in providing the flights synchronization during NATO Summit held in Bucharest between 2 and 4 of April 2008.
The North Atlantic Alliance Summit was the most important political event ever organized in Romania and drew the attention of the entire world. Approximately 3,000 delegates the most powerful people on earth, Heads of State and Government and ministers analyzed a very busy political agenda, during a 3 day marathon discussion.
During NATO Summit, more than 120 aircraft used for delegates transport landed on Henri Coanda International Airport, air space security being provided 24/7 by airborne forces and means belonging to the Romanian Air Forces, NATO and some NATO member nations.
Official delegates flights were pursued and supervised by ROMATSA (Romanian Air Traffic Services Administration) Air Traffic Controllers who leaded successfully the equipments from air trafic control room.
TOPEX VCS is one of these systems that allowed the dispatchers to access terrestrial phone lines, radio channels, intercoms and paging functions for an efficient air traffic deployment during the Summit.
This full digital system, flexible with TDM scalable architecture has been implemented at ROMATSA for over five years and allows its configuration for a very wide range of applications in the ATC field.

TOPEX successfully implemented this system in Romania for military and aeronautically authorities.
For the next period, TOPEX will implement two IP VCS projects on Arad and Bucharest airports including over 40 IP operators positions, radio, telephone lines, recording system.
The new TOPEX IP VCS solution was developed because of the company sustained efforts to adapt market available VoIP technologies to ATC particular requirements. In this way, TOPEX IP VCS is a fully redundant Air Traffic Management solution being flexible and easy to upgrade, integrate or customize.
