Airservices celebrates Women of Aviation Worldwide Week

Airservices is urging women around the country to consider a career in aviation, in particular a careers at Airservices as part of the internationally-recognised Women of Aviation Worldwide Week.

Airservices will mark Women of Aviation Worldwide Week, an initiative managed by the Institute for Women of Aviation Worldwide through a series of internal activities that celebrate and highlight the achievements of women through history.

Airservices staff around the country will have the opportunity to take part in the Pink Paper Plane Challenge™ by constructing pink paper planes while taking the time to look back at the role women have played in the industry.

Airservices Executive General Manager People and Culture, Andrew Boyd, said "Airservices is committed to raising awareness of diversity within the workplace".

“We are focused on attracting women to operational areas of the organisation such as air traffic control, technical and engineering roles and aviation rescue fire fighting,” Mr Boyd said.

“This week provides us with an opportunity to encourage women to consider a role in aviation by showcasing the achievements of our existing workforce.

“It is also a timely reminder to young women that there are varied and interesting career options available in an organisation where it is possible to make a significant contribution to the economy, community and helping others.”

Airservices has partnered with the Institute for Women of Aviation Worldwide who aim to raise awareness of potential careers for women in aviation.

The 6th annual Women of Aviation Worldwide Week is a global outreach initiative with various week-long celebrations including information sessions and free flights for women in light aircraft at airports all over the world.
