Austro Control chooses FREQUENTIS Voice Recording Systems
Frequentis, the global market leader in voice communication systems for air traffic control, will supply Austro Controls Klagenfurt, Innsbruck, Salzburg, and Vienna air traffic facilities with the companys DIVOS log 3 multimedia recording system. The excellent technical concept and competitive price featured in the bid won Frequentis the contract in the face of strong international competition. The Austrian ANSP will now use the complete Frequentis communication portfolio, with the DIVOS log system joining the VCS, VCX and ADD systems already used by Austro Control.
The largest system will be installed in the Vienna Area Control Centre (ACC), with a 690-channel recording capacity. The recording systems for Salzburg (204 channels), Klagenfurt, and Innsbruck (both 112 channels) will serve tower and approach services. All the systems are already designed to meet ED-137 recording standards, based on the definitions and work of EUROCAE WG-67 (VoIP in ATM).
One of the strengths of DIVOS log 3 is its flexibility when integrating into the customers existing infrastructure and environment. DIVOS log 3 works within Austro Controls unique solution, enabling fast collection of incident-related information across all relevant systems. DIVOS log 3 will also integrate into Austro Controls nationwide monitoring system, thus ensuring high availability and proactive supervision. Of course, audio is only one of the media types recorded by DIVOS log 3: the system can expand to record any information relevant to air traffic on the same platform. The DIVOS log 3 system design takes account of all upcoming demands on ATC operations, offering long-term support for Austro Control that will help the ANSP maintain its leading reputation for safe and efficient air traffic control well into the future.
The companys partnership with Austro Control began back in 1955, when Frequentis installed voice communication equipment in Hangar 2 of Vienna Airport for the Federal Office of Civil Aviation (Austro Controls predecessor). January 2010 provided further evidence of the strength of this long-lasting partnership, when Frequentis was contracted to supply the towers/approaches in Klagenfurt, Innsbruck, and Salzburg with its latest generation VCS 3020 voice communication system. Frequentis is especially proud of the new contract for the DIVOS log 3 recording systems, as it both demonstrates and reinforces the strength of this industry-ANSP partnership.
