Avianca, TACA and Airbus ProSky to Boost PBN Deployment in Latin America

- Toulouse, France

Airbus ProSky, Avianca and TACA have signed an agreement to deploy Performance Based Navigation (PBN) in Central and South America. The PBN project will be instrumental in creating a safer and more efficient operational network. It will cover numerous procedures such as arrivals, approaches and departures at key airports starting with San Salvador and Guatemala City.

This large regional project will be managed through full cooperation with all regional stakeholders - airports, authorities and Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSP).

In addition to the design of a PBN network, Airbus ProSky will assist the Airlines of Avianca in defining and performing specific training and in supporting their operational approval from their respective authorities.

According to Estuardo Ortiz, Chief Operating Officer, Avianca Holdings, "we are confident that this project will bring more efficient air navigation into the region, as well as contribute to a collaborative work environment for those involved in the operations. We trust Airbus ProSky, whom are experienced leaders in Air Traffic Management optimization, to be a great asset to deploy PBN efficiently."

M. Roberto Kriete, President, Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA), stated, "Avianca and TACA know that by investing in this project it will not only support their operations but it will also increase state and airport revenues, and overall, support Latin America in economic expansion."

Paul-Franck Bijou, Chief Executive Officer, Airbus ProSky sums up this prestigious project announcement by saying, "we are thrilled to be selected by Avianca and TACA for efforts that will play such a strategic role in the operations of a leading Latin American airline. Airbus ProSky will adamantly support the airlines and regional stakeholders through collaboration to deploy a vast and consistent PBN network."
