Barco redesigns its 2Kx2K main display for air traffic control, offering more comfort and higher performance at a better price

Visualization specialist Barco proudly introduces the fourth generation of its ISIS main display for ATC controller working positions. The new 2Kx2K display features a smart, stylish design, unequaled image quality, and noiseless operation at a highly competitive price. ISIS will be on display at ATCA, 20-23 October, in Washington.

Eye-catching in every way
With 12,000 units in the field, Barco’s ISIS display has a proven track record of efficiency and performance. The 4 MegaPixel display now comes with a brand-new 28” LCD panel featuring Panasonic’s IPS-Pro (Next) LCD technology. Offering a wider viewing angle and a higher contrast ratio than its predecessor while eliminating reflections, the new ISIS offers optimum reading quality to air traffic controllers. The smart and stylish design – with all cables neatly covered and no fans spinning – further adds to the system’s efficiency.

Designed to meet customer needs
“After discussions with major stakeholders in air traffic control, we decided to redesign ISIS according to the evolving needs and wishes of our customers,” comments Steven Luys, VP Strategic marketing Defense & Aerospace. “Noiseless performance, the look and feel of the display and image quality as well as cost efficiency were the top priorities in our redesign process. With the new ISIS, we have met all of these requirements.”

The fan-less design of the new 2Kx2K main display ensures noiseless operation in an open architecture, which significantly improves user comfort. All cables are hidden and connectors are easily accessible. The display offers additional input connectivity (2x Dual Link DVI, 2x DisplayPort, and a GPIO-ready interface) to support today’s and tomorrow’s imaging needs.

A safe investment
Additionally, the display’s slim and lightweight design facilitates set-up and installation while reducing footprint. ISIS produces no heat and features near-zero energy consumption when not in active use. Combined with its low-power LED backlights, ISIS offers a low total cost of ownership without compromising image quality or performance.

Thanks to Barco’s smart obsolescence management, ISIS is a safe, cost-effective, and highly sustainable investment. The displays have been built with non-wearable components and come with a 5-year warranty. They can be upgraded with the latest technology innovations without compromising their form-fit-function compatibility. The new ISIS display will be commercially available as of Q1 2014.
