CAA of Mongolia commissions 2 new radars
Mongolia aims to move forward to the modernization of civil aviation industry undertaking several important projects. One of them is implementing the surveillance system and procedures to enhance the safety of aviation operation.
CAA of Mongolia recently has commissioned additional two radars in the eastern and southern sites of Mongolia to improve radar coverage and accuracy. In 10th September, 2015, these 2 radars will be in operation that can be enabling the radar coverage to the 95% of the total en route flight of Mongolia.
Therefore, by the mid of September, there are seven radar sites operating across Mongolia, covering 75% of upper airspace.
“In order to extend the coverage of the surveillance system and to improve the safety with backing up existing system, the MCAA is installing ADS-B system by systematically, along with the radar implementations. So far, 10 ADS-Bs are installed and are on trial process. Further, we plan to increase the number of ADS-Bs to the extent to cover all Mongolian airspace.” Mr.Ganbold.P, the director of ANSP department said.
CAA of Mongolia announced to continue implementing new technology and procedures to enhance the safety of aviation operation, as well as introducing an airspace that would meet the interests of all the stakeholders.
