Casper Noise fully implemented at London Gatwick Airport within five weeks
After contract award to replace Gatwick’s Noise Management System both Gatwick and Casper project teams had a major challenge to contend with: getting the newly acquired Noise Management System operational within 5 weeks.
In order to release the full potential of Casper Noise a number of data feeds needed to be integrated to work seamlessly. The close relationship between Gatwick Airport and the National Air Traffic Services (NATS) combined with Casper’s pragmatic approach and its technical know-how on air traffic management systems, resulted in a quick resolution of tough technical challenges.
Critical in the whole implementation process was the involvement of the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). The system and its data output has to be sufficiently flexible and accurate for the types of studies undertaken and reported by the CAA.
All the relevant specific UK flight procedures and Gatwick’s noise abatement procedures were integrated in the system to register any track and noise violations automatically according to UK requirements. Together with performance enhancements, it resulted in the newest release of Casper Noise which truly matches the highest standards in Aviation.
Casper Noise went live on the planned date which included the integrated Flight Tracking service on Gatwick’s website http://flighttracking.casper.aero/lgw/.
“Everybody was enthusiastic about the project. The can-do mentality of all parties involved contributed greatly to the quick implementation of Casper Noise. It is a reliable system and the more we use it the more we like it.” summarised Gatwick’s Flight Performance Manager Brendan Sheil.
