NAV CANADA and Techno Sky team up to supply NAVCANatm technology for ENAV Tower Project

- Ottawa, Canada.

NAV CANADA and Techno Sky S.r.l. announced today that they have entered into an agreement to provide to ENAV, Italy’s Air Navigation Service Provider, the NAVCANsuite Integrated Tower solution to manage and display critical air traffic control information.

NAVCANsuite technology will be installed in air traffic control towers at six sites, starting with Milano Malpensa International Airport. Other airports will include: Milan Linate Airport, Leonardo da Vinci - Rome International Airport, Bergamo Orio al Serio International Airport, Ciampino - GB Pastine International Airport, and Catania-Fontanarossa Airport. Deployment of the system will begin in 2015.

Two key NAVCANsuite products will be installed in the six towers: NAVCANstrips and NAVCANsitu.

NAVCANstrips, an advanced flight strip system, allows air traffic controllers to manage flight data online, providing immediate access to key information, and permitting more efficient management and use of airspace and airport capacity. Flight data transactions are automated and can be configured to generate flow management statistics and other information

NAVCANsitu provides a single situational display for enroute, terminal and ground surveillance. It combines fused tracked surveillance, using data from several surveillance sources, which is tightly coupled with the advanced flight strip system.

"We are pleased to have been selected to deploy NAVCANatm technology in Italy," said NAV CANADA President and CEO John Crichton. "We look forward to working with the Techno Sky team to install this advanced ATM technology that will support the enhanced transfer and management of operational information in the six ENAV towers."

The installation of this technology will ensure our controllers have the tools required for ongoing improvements to ATM performance,” Massimo Garbini, CEO of ENAV said, “We are continuing with our commitment to provide the country with the safest and most efficient air navigation services possible.

NAV CANADA and Techno Sky will be coordinating the provision of the integrated tower solution, including hardware acquisition, software development and integration, operational and technical training, and ongoing maintenance after system deployment.

NAVCANsuite integrated tower applications manage and display extensive operational data, and safety-critical information to air traffic controllers in real time. All of the information layouts, displays and notifications are customizable to meet the requirements of each controller, helping to reduce distractions and enhance safety.
