U-ELCOME chooses Airspace World to show developing drone operation and U-Space services

• Farah Luu, one of the U-ELCOME project leaders, will explain tomorrow at Boeing Theatre in Airspace World how a large European project such as U- ELCOME supports at the same time the development of U1/2 services across Europe and the implementation of procedures and infrastructures to enable drone operations in 15 European cities in Spain, Italy and France
• The U-ELCOME approach is to boost the local development at city/region level in order to consolidate and take benefit at European level
• The 3-year U-ELCOME Project is coordinated by EUROCONTROL and involves 51 European partners. This DSD project is part of an innovation pipeline to bridge the gap between applied/industrial research and industrialisation, and to accelerate the market uptake of U1 and U2 U-space services with the involvement of early movers. It also has a strong and close connection with relevant standardisation and regulatory activities and bodies.

U-ELCOME Project, coordinated by EUROCONTROL with funding from the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) in cooperation with the SESAR 3 Joint Undertaking has chosen industry expo Airspace World as the venue to show how such European project (15 Millions of Euros) enable the development of commercial drone operations in Spain, Italy and France to leverage the market across Europe.

As Ludovic Legros, U-ELCOME project coordinator, says “this DSD project is part of an innovation pipeline to bridge the gap between industrial research and industrialisation, and to accelerate the market uptake of U-space services with the involvement of early movers”.

“It also has a strong and close connection with relevant standardisation and regulatory activities and bodies”, Ludovic Legros said yesterday at the SESAR Showcase Theatre in Airspace World opening.

Farah Luu, the “French cluster” leader and Thales Group Project Manager will introduce U- Elcome project at the Boeing Theatre next Friday, 10th March at 13.30 hours and she will explain how the development of sandboxes support U-space development across Europe.

Farah Luu will talk about how U-ELCOME project intends to foster a fully scalable market uptake of U1 and U2 U-space services through a set of tests and demonstrations across 15 locations distributed in Spain, Italy, and France.

The U-space capabilities and U1 and U2 services of the pre-operational U-space ecosystems will be demonstrated in several live use cases in various operational environments that represent the most typical missions such as goods and cargo delivery, emergencies, surveillance and inspection, people rescue, medical parcel delivery, media, support to first aid operations and people air transport in controlled and uncontrolled airspace.
