Frequentis provides the L.F. Wade International Airport in Bermuda with its latest integrated ATC solutions
A significant milestone was reached between BAS Serco Ltd. and Frequentis with the contract signature for the replacement of the existing voice communication system for the island of Bermuda.
BAS Serco Ltd., contracted by the Bermuda Government Department of Airport Operations to provide Air Traffic Control Services, has trusted in Frequentis for the modernization of the L.F. Wade International Airport control tower; now the only airport in Bermuda will have reliable Frequentis technology at its premises. This is the first contract with Bermuda for Frequentis; it marks also the entrance of the highly reliable and functional Taptools solution to the Caribbean.
With total arrivals up significantly for Bermuda in the past years, BAS Serco Ltd. wanted a reliable company to help them with their growing air traffic control needs. Frequentis with over 60 years of experience in voice and data communication systems for mission critical applications understood BAS Sercos requirements best and presented them with a comprehensive proposal that put the customer in the centre of the system design: development was carried out together with the customer on site.
The Frequentis solution includes a voice communication system smart3020X, a RES-Q radio emergency system and a DIVOS voice recorder. From the Taptools product family, smartMET, smartNAV and smartATIS will increase efficiency of operations significantly in the future. Technically, the integration of these systems is impressive: voice communication and the different information sources share one display system and have been integrated into existing infrastructure. The complete system now supports the controllers workflow perfectly to their full satisfaction.
The Bermuda team - Department of Airport Operations, Manager of Air Operations and BAS Serco Ltd., Manager of Ground Electronic Services - are very pleased with the way Frequentis handled this project from its inception to the agreement signing and looks forward to the same level of service throughout the project. Frequentis was able to provide tailored solutions, utmost professionalism and attention to every detail of the project.
Most impressive to a member of the team was the level of support and availability of Frequentis personnel during the proposal phase. Answers to questions and requests for Frequentis expertise were always very efficient and never more than an email or phone call away.
Customer care started with the first contact, fast and flexible reactions on their requests confirmed BAS Serco Ltd. that they had chosen the right partner. One point of contact (only one vendor) was another appreciated benefit for the customer, giving him enhanced upgrade possibilities and an easy maintenance process with no risk for the future.
Frequentis is very pleased to deliver state of the art technology for the island of Bermuda. The possibility to get close to the customer established a teamwork which was the basis for this contract. Frequentis has enjoyed this way of working together and looks forward to continuing this teamwork.
