FREQUENTIS selected for the FABEC N-VCS project
Frequentis is proud to announce a significant milestone in its history: a development that represents a new generation of voice communication systems for both the company and Europe, and the true birth of 21st century voice communication in air traffic management.
DSNA, the French air navigation service provider, and EUROCONTROL have selected Frequentis for the developmentand deployment of their new N-VCS voice communication system which will be based on the common Functional Airspace Block Europe Central (FABEC) specifications.
DSNA, the French air navigation service provider, and EUROCONTROL Maastricht Upper Area Control Centre (MUAC) are partners in the FABEC organisation. In 2009, they agreed to combine resources, and coordinate efforts in view of procuring a joint, single contractor for the operational deployment and maintenance of the N-VCS. In February, after an extensive negotiation process, they announced the selection of Frequentis as the contractor for a FABEC compliant N-VCS product. Working from a framework agreement, DSNA and MUAC will jointly negotiate and conclude so-called instantiation contracts for the deployment of voice communication systems in their respective centres.
The task will include equipping the EUROCONTROL Maastricht Upper Area Control Centre (MUAC) and French ACCs with state-of-the-art voice communication systems designed to meet the future challenges of a shared and safe European airspace. Frequentis sees this challenge as a chance to provide a model approach for future functional airspace blocks, not just in Europe, but throughout the world.
Further information about this project will be published in April 2011.
