FREQUENTIS wins the Innovative Idea Award at the ICNS 2010 conference
Eduard Gringinger, one of Frequentis young research engineers, received the Student Innovative Idea Award at the this years Integrated Communications Navigation and Surveillance (ICNS) conference in Washington DC.
The 2010 event took place May 11 - 13 focusing on The Challenges of NextGen: New Issues for Aviation's Future. Frequentis received the award for its research on Ontology-based CNS Software Development.
This years Integrated Communications Navigation and Surveillance (ICNS) conference was held in Washington DC. The Frequentis contribution Ontology-based CNS Software Development received the Student Innovative Idea Award and was presented by its primary author, Eduard Gringinger. It drew on some impressive research results from Frequentis, spreading insights across the Atlantic from SESAR to NEXTGEN.
It describes an approach to leverage designs, procedures, and technologies from control centers in any specific domain into other domains, such as applying air traffic management control center applications (e.g., Tower, TRACON, Center, TFM) to emergency response centers. Cost savings and improved speed-to-market are the benefits of this excellent research on a modern Ontology-
Based Control Room Framework (ONTOCOR).
The presentation summarized some results from Frequentis SESAR (Single European Sky ATM Research initiative) and NEXTGEN research efforts. One of the main SESAR goals is to Provide ATM services to the airspace users at a cost of at least 50% less.
Eduard Gringinger, SESAR Project Member and Executive Assistant to the CEO at Frequentis AG in Vienna, prepared the paper together with Dieter Eier, Vice President, Business Development for Frequentis USA, and Dieter Merkl from the Vienna University of Technology.
Hannes Bardach, CEO of Frequentis, congratulates Mr. Gringinger, adding, I am excited about this award. The ontology-based approach by Mr. Gringinger proofs that transferring control room solutions from one environment to another will result in significant cost savings for our customers!
