Argentina completes airspace communication modernisation with FREQUENTIS technology
Frequentis’ communication systems connect all Argentinian area control centers (ACCs)
- Madrid, Spain
Empresa Argentina de Navegacion Aerea (EANA) and Frequentis have concluded the installation of the Frequentis voice communication systems (VCS) and DIVOS recording systems for all Argentinian flight information regions (FIRs) at five ACCs – Ezeiza, Comodoro Rivadavia, Mendoza, Resistencia and Cordoba.
The modernisation campaign began in August 2020 when Frequentis delivered technology to Ezeiza area control center (ACC) and was concluded with Resistencia and Cordoba site acceptance testing milestones in October 2021.
These latest milestones capped the successful execution of an ambitious program to modernise aeronautical communications, as envisioned by EANA. During the development of the project, EANA and Frequentis adapted to exceptional procedures to deal with pandemic restrictions and keep the project schedule under control.
The VCS 3020X and DIVOS solutions now provide long time proven air traffic control (ATC) functions and the flexibility of the systems matches EANA requirements as well as complying with EUROCAE software assurance standards and VoIP in ATC interface standards.
“By installing the Frequentis VCS 3020X and DIVOS products at all ACCs in Argentina, we are able to enhance the airspace communications and support EANA’s critical mission to deliver air navigation services in Argentinian airspace in a safe, efficient and sustainable manner”, says Hannu Juurakko, Frequentis Vice President ATM and Chairman of the ATM Executive Team
