JAA TO becomes recognized ICAO Regional Training Centre of Excellence
The Joint Aviation Authorities Training Organisation has officially been recognized as ICAO Regional Training Centre of Excellence (IRTCE). The award was handed over to Mr Joost Jonker, JAA TO Director, by Mr Raymond Benjamin, ICAO Secretary General, during the Certificate Ceremony on 10 September 2014 at the Delegates’ Lounge of ICAO Headquarters, Montréal.
The process to become ICAO RTCE encompassed various extensive ICAO audit programs, starting with the nomination as Trainair Plus Associate Member in April 2011 and Trainair Plus Full Membership in April 2012. Additionally, JAA TO was assessed by ICAO’s Global Aviation Training Office according to a set of high-level criteria. “Today’s ICAO RTCE recognition for the authorized fields of Aerodromes, Air Transport, and Air Safety and Safety Management tops off JAA TO’s continued hard work and dedication in the enhancement of civil aviation training,” says Joost Jonker. “We are keen to continue to offer guidance and advice on the development and improvement of the ICAO Trainair Plus Programme, as well as develop ICAO Standardized Training Packages.”
