Metron Aviation Appoints New President and CEO
Metron Aviation, a subsidiary of Airbus Americas and leading provider of advanced research, engineering services and Air Traffic Flow Management (ATFM) solutions, announced today that Jim Gaughan will be assuming the role of President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Gaughan was appointed Chief Operating Officer following the Airbus acquisition of Metron Aviation, and now succeeds Dave Ellison as part of the companys post-merger transition plan.
Mr. Gaughan has over 25 years of experience in Air Traffic Management (ATM), systems engineering, software development and product integration with a long track record of success in managing large, complex programs for the FAA and other customers. Under his leadership, Metron Aviation was awarded the single largest award to a small business in Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) history, the System Engineering 2020 (SE-2020) Research and Mission Analysis Set-Aside Program, awarded to Metron Aviation in 2010, along with numerous other projects and contracts dedicated to balancing demand and capacity in the global airspace.
"Jim has an extensive and successful track record in leading Metron Aviation on an exceptional path of achievement. Under his strong leadership, Metron Aviation will continue to thrive and offer best-in-class ATFM solutions for all aviation stakeholders, said Eric Stefanello, CEO, Airbus ProSky. Jim has the support of Airbus, the Metron Aviation Board and all of our employees, and we have no doubt that Metron Aviation will continue delivering innovative concepts and capabilities for a safer and more efficient aviation system.
The Board of Directors and the Metron Aviation Executive Team have been planning this transition for quite some time, and earlier this year Jim was promoted to Chief Operating Officer in preparation for this final transition. Jim has been a key member of our senior leadership team during my entire tenure, and I am very pleased that our parent company, Airbus, fully supports our transition plan, said Dave Ellison, former President and CEO, Metron Aviation. I have complete confidence in Jims ability to lead Metron Aviation and our talented team of professionals.
I am honored to assume the role of President and CEO of Metron Aviation, said Gaughan. I look forward to continuing the successful leadership of Dave Ellison and am excited about the future of this company, our employees and what we can offer our customers as they deploy innovative AFTM systems in the years ahead.
