Kuwait Public Authority for Applied Education and Training upgrades its Micro Nav BEST simulator to BEST 6, BEST Defence and enhanced Silver support

- Bournemouth, UK

Al-Essa Medical & Scientific Equipment Co. W.L.L. (Al-Essa) has contracted with Micro Nav Limited (Micro Nav) for a further 12-month support period and to supply its latest Air Traffic Control (ATC) and Air Battle Management (ABM) software to the Higher Institute of Telecommunication & Navigation (HITN) for Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET) in Kuwait.

PAAET HITN is a long-standing and valued Micro Nav end-customer, with the existing beginning to End for Simulation and Training (BEST) simulator comprising a 360-degree 3D Tower and Radar configuration. The PAAET HITN BEST system was recently upgraded to BEST 6 in January 2017. During this upgrade the ABM software capability was installed on the existing system and support extended for a further 12-months at Silver status.

BEST 6 is the latest ATC software release from Micro Nav and an advancement of the single solution product that supports all ATC training requirements. This advance includes enhancements to the BEST middleware, Tower Flight Data Processing capability, aircraft labelling, Time Based Separation, ground routeing and many other features that significantly enrich the overall training capability.

The BEST Defence software provides PAAET the capability to train Air Battle Managers (Fighter Controllers) to train for a wide range of missions within the Air Defence environment, from basic intercept control techniques to transition-to-war scenario training. In use by various NATO countries BEST Defence includes: semi-autonomous forces; customisable aircraft performance, airborne radar and weapons systems; communications that comply with national reporting rules.

Silver support ensures PAAET continues to benefit from key Micro Nav services including: online help desk; remote access support; refresher training; hardware obsolescence monitoring; software updates and much more.

Capt. Monther A AlKandari, Director of the Higher Institute for Telecomm & Navigation at PAEET, commented “It has been a long term goal at PAAET to access the Micro Nav BEST Defence functionality to provide additional training and simulation capabilities to our students. The team at Micro Nav was excellent during the upgrade, and it was delivered along with the additional training within weeks of contract award.”

K.T. Mathew, Managing Director at Al-Essa said, “Al-Essa has been working with Micro Nav for over two years to secure this important contract to increase the training capability within PAAET and is delighted with the quick and efficient delivery of the upgrade by Micro Nav.

Wg Cdr RAF (Ret’d) Chris Foster, Customer Domain Manager at Micro Nav said, “This contract award by PAAET further demonstrates the flexibility of the Micro Nav single solution product, providing an existing customer with the ability to unlock a significant new feature with the ABM functionality. Furthermore, customer satisfaction and the provision of high quality customer support is at the heart of Micro Nav’s approach as a company; therefore, we are delighted that PAAET has decided to extend its support at Silver level.
